Undergradute Scholarship due October 10

  1. Eligibility

    • Current SHRM member (professional or student)
    • Enrolled in a degree-seeking undergraduate program
    • University is an accredited institution of higher learning
    • Degree program is HR-related (e.g. business, psychology, HR, org development, etc.)
    • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

    • Short answer questions about volunteer/work experience and career aspirations
    • Current resume
    • Two letters of reference

Graduate Scholarships due October 10:

Eligibility

  • Current SHRM member (professional or student)
  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking masters or doctoral program OR accepted and ready to being your studies within six months
  • University is an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Degree program is HR-related (e.g. business, psychology, HR, org development, etc.)
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, or if not yet enrolled, an undergrad GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Outside Scholarships for SHRM Members

Geico Achievement Scholarships

College Sophomores and Juniors majoring in business, math, computer science and related fields are encouraged to apply. It is a $2,500 award.  Click on the link above for more information about this scholarship.  Deadline for entry is November 6, 2017.

Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship

All eligible award applicants will be reviewed by the Pursuit of Excellence Award Committee. The Committee will assess each nominee’s leadership development, contribution, and professional involvement in the HR field. The selected applicant will receive a $1,000 award

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years Human Resources professional exempt experience.
  • Current membership in Dallas Human Resource Management Association.
  • No prior Pursuit of Excellence Award (or James Wilkins, Jr. Award) in the last two (2) years.
  • Current DallasHR and HRSouthwest Conference Board members are ineligible to participate.

Submission Information:

Please submit the following:

  • A completed award application form.
  • A resume of nominee’s education, employment history, and professional/volunteer activities.
  • Professional Statement: Please attach a typed, one page (8 1/2″ x 11″) professional statement. The statement should discuss how the nominee has demonstrated commitment and leadership in the Human Resources profession through professional and educational initiatives.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from professional/work-related sources and/or academic officials.

Application deadline is November 15.

JSOM has numerous donors who offer scholarships to business students based on need or merit. None of the scholarships offered are specific to human resources, but I highly recommend looking through to see which you might be eligible for.
